Countervail, in conjunction with the Center for Acoustics and Vibration at Penn State University, created a helicopter with Countervail-integrated interior panels to test the levels of vibration damping and noise reduction in lightweight aero-structures.

With the goal to reduce problematic vibration amplitudes and structure-borne noise, the Countervail Products engineering team set out to implement Countervail in a BHTI 430 helicopter cabin in a way that would best achieve those goals while keeping a secure and strong structure.

This case study will inform you about the tests performed to guide development, the test and evaluation results and how those findings led to Countervail’s implementation and the subsequent weight and vibration reduction in helicopter headliner panels.
